Building Community Takes Coordination How Lewis teams, community partners and the City of Chino came together for National Night Out at The Preserve Great community experiences can feel effortless. Behind the scenes, however, they often require thoughtful planning, flexibility and many people working toward the same goal. That was especially true for National Night Out at Town Center at The Preserve. Bringing residents, businesses and public-safety agencies together in this distinctive setting required close coordination across residential, retail, community-management and public partners. Understanding The Preserve The Preserve at Chino is more than a single neighborhood. Developed by Lewis Planned Communities, it is a vibrant master-planned community that brings together homes from multiple builders, resort-style resident amenities, parks and schools. It also includes Homecoming at The Preserve, a Lewis Apartments community, and Town Center at The Preserve, a walkable destination for shopping, dining and everyday services. That mix is part of what makes The Preserve special. It also means that creating a community-wide event involves many different stakeholders, each responsible for a different part of the experience. Many Partners, One Shared Goal FirstService Residential, representing The Preserve homeowners association, played a leading role in coordinating the event for the broader community and connecting with residents. Lewis Apartments brought event-planning expertise and helped engage residents of Homecoming at The Preserve, contributing to the strong community turnout that brought the celebration to life. At Town Center at The Preserve, participating retail tenants helped extend the celebration into the community’s retail center. Because the event also involved a street overseen by the City of Chino, partnership with the City was essential. Chino Police and Fire personnel completed the collaboration, creating meaningful opportunities for residents to connect with the public-safety professionals who serve their community. That connection is at the heart of National Night Out. Together, the participating tenants and residents turned careful planning into an energetic community gathering. Placemaking Beyond Development Developing a community as multifaceted as The Preserve comes with complexity. Homes, apartments, retail, shared amenities, active construction and public infrastructure all intersect. Those moving parts can create challenges, but they also create opportunities to collaborate and deliver something greater than any one organization could accomplish alone. For Lewis Group of Companies, placemaking extends beyond building homes, apartments, retail centers and amenities. It means bringing those places to life by creating opportunities for connection and supporting the relationships that help a community thrive. National Night Out at The Preserve was a strong example of that commitment in action. Through flexibility, communication and a shared focus on the community, the participating teams and partners turned a complex planning effort into a welcoming experience for residents, businesses and public-safety agencies. The result was more than a successful event. It was a reminder that building great communities takes coordination. When people work together, complexity can become connection.
